suitable lens to capture 1 micron sized particles

Hi all, I am using a loftier speed camera to tape the motion of 1-4 micron sized particles, I was wondering if anybody has whatsoever thought about the lens that I should use to capture this size rang? Also, I would like to know the toll for that as well!

Thanks

Just capturing them equally points of light should non be too hard, but you oasis't given enough information.

How big a field do you need to cover?

What camera volition yous be using?

How will the particles be lit?

Random motion or equally function of a stream?

Re: suitable lens to capture ane micron sized particles

That's 1/m to i/250 of a millimetre?

Drop this question in the "Macro and Withal Life Photography Forum" and provide a little more information about the camera you are using and the conditions of your experiment.

Re: suitable lens to capture i micron sized particles

Hi Albert

I could not even capture them as points of light HoWEVER I want  to study their motion including random motility. so the bigger the better to examine their behavior. I think a lens with 100x magnification might help but not sure. Do yous have whatsoever idea nigh the lens to find?

Thank you

Simply capturing them equally points of low-cal should non be as well difficult, but you oasis't given enough data.

How big a field do you need to encompass?

What camera will yous exist using?

How will the particles exist lit?

Random motion or as function of a stream?

100x is microscope territory, no question. Check Google for how to record Brownian motion and yous'll be in the right area.

Re: suitable lens to capture one micron sized particles

Macro is for pictures at one:ane or more. 1:1 is relatively easy to reach, but going past that is where it gets tricky. Here is for case a 5:1 lens (in m43 mount). http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/852859-REG/YASUHARA_YA24_NAN5M_Nanoha_Macro_Lens_5_1.html

5:1 ways the object will exist projected five times bigger on the sensor, so ane micron will be 5 micron on the sensor. A quick calculation shows a pixel is 4 microns on a m43 16MP camera. Equally your particles are 1 to 4 micron, I am guessing that is barely enough. Y'all probably would want your particle to cover several pixels, equally the raw conversion could exist confused by a 1 pixel size detail (go along in mind the bayer assortment on the CCD).

Try posting on macro forum as the other way to get is a setup with extension tubes and reversed lenses, merely I am thinking you will have a hard time doing better without an actual microscope.

Also, as an aside, continue in mind the plane of focus which is razor thin in macro. This means yous probably want to view 2D brownian motion, and then yous need to have in listen that 2nd brownian move will not have the same math as 3D brownian motility.
